Natural Stone Epoxy Flooring
Rock Solid’s stone flooring can be used as an overlay on any indoor or outdoor concrete or wood surface. Natural stones are obtained from riverbeds in the Midwest, placed in a dry kiln to remove all impurities and water, and then mixed with an epoxy adhesive to create a seamless, durable floor for your home or business. It can be laid on vertical surfaces such as stair fronts as well as flat.
Just a few of the places you may consider using stone flooring include:
- Pool decks
- Store aisles and entrances
- Laundry rooms
Benefits and Features of Stone Flooring
Unlike carpet, tile, or linoleum, Rock Solid’s stone flooring will last you a lifetime. And our competitive prices make it the easy choice for a long-term investment in your home or business.
Neither freezing temperatures nor extreme heat harm Rock Solid natural stone flooring.
Short Cure Time
The stone cures quickly; you may walk on your new surface approximately 24 hours after installation.
Dirt, oil, grease, and salt will not harm your stone epoxy floor. An occasional power washing with water will keep your stone looking beautiful.
Easy To Maintain
Besides hosing down your stone occasionally, the only maintenance required is an epoxy recoat every 2-3 years to sustain its durability. Length of time between recoats depends on ultraviolet exposure and traffic.
This means that our stone flooring allows water to run through the system – eliminating standing water. This allows the subsurface to aerate, resisting mold, mildew, and moisture build-up. Because it doesn’t hold water or heat, our natural stone surface is 10 degrees cooler to walk on in summer!
Custom Colors and Designs
While our stone is all-natural, it can be dyed to match any custom color. Most of our work includes custom patterns and borders in multiple colors. We can also inlay your company’s logo in your new floor.

Depending on the amount of custom and vertical work, we can lay anywhere from 400 to 1,000 square feet of stone flooring a day. We generally try to reserve the summer months for outdoor work, as we can only install flooring during good weather. Winter is the perfect time for any indoor flooring project such as your basement, laundry room, or store.
Step 1: Prepare the base
If you have a concrete base, we begin by sanding it down and repairing any cracks. We ensure your base is solid and prepared just right so that the new stone flooring adheres correctly.
Step 2: Mix Stone and Epoxy
After it has been refined, the natural stone almost has the texture of power. It is mixed with the epoxy adhesive for 2-3 minutes just prior to installation.
Step 3: Spread Stone and Epoxy Mixture
The stone and epoxy mixture must be spread quickly before it can begin to harden. It is spread ½ an inch thick. The mixture is self-leveling, so we can thicken it where needed if the base isn’t quite level.
Step 4: Finishing
The stone surface may be sprinkled with a silicon sand for additional skid prevention. We also saw cut the stone to match the expansion cuts and strips in the underlying concrete, ensuring that it moves with the substrate and doesn’t crack.
Step 5: Let Cure For 24-48 Hours
The new surface will be ready to walk on in as little as 24 hours. However, you must wait 7 days before you drive on a new garage or driveway.
Rock Solid’s stone flooring is highly durable. It can stand up to foot and vehicle traffic, water, grease, and salt. It is, however, susceptible to UV rays from the sun. If you have a pool deck, patio, walkway or other outdoor surface, you will need to have a recoat of epoxy applied every 2-3 years. This will help the floor to maintain its durability and shine. Don’t be surprised if the color of your stone darkens very slightly as it ages; that’s just a result of using all-natural stones.
An indoor stone floor, including a garage, only needs to be resealed if it sustains damage from water or extremely heavy foot traffic.
We strongly recommend that you engage a professional for your epoxy recoats. The adhesive used with stone is not available to the general public and is very difficult to work with. Your warranty will be voided if you attempt to recoat yourself with another product. Just give us a call when your stone starts to look dull and we’ll take care of it for you.
